Insect Porn Sells!

Insect Porn Sells!

Isabella Rossellini – the Italian actress best known for her roles in Death Becomes Her and in David Lynch’s Blue Velvet – is moving on to the sex life of insects as an art form. Yes at last – someone is giving this inexcusably overlooked means of expression the recognition it truly deserves.

In Green Porno Rossellini wrangles story-telling with her well documented interest in animals and animal behaviour and comes up with a one-woman show exploring some of the weird, wonderful and sometimes dangerous antics of mating in the animal world.  (Ed: I thought you said ‘ insects’? I’m only interested in the sex life of insects as an art form. Didn’t I make that clear already?)

Rossellini examines the sex lives of a number of insects, from bees and flies to spiders and worms, featuring wild orgies, inexplicable acrobatics and males eaten right after reproduction.  The show features a range of crazy and colourful costumes, adding a playful approach to her tales of the bedroom antics of insects and sea creatures. (Ed: You could probably have seen it all on the inside of Tracey Emin’s tent if you were one of the lucky ‘chosen’).

The show is based on the award-winning short films commissioned by Robert Redford for the Sundance channel, which were written and co-directed by Rossellini, and have received millions of views. (Ed: See – lots of people like insect porn).
