That Corbin ‘n King Thing

Zedel then: ‘Have a lovely evening – Jenny will show you to your table.’ Smiley face emoji.
Zedel now: ‘We want your table back by 9.30.’ Face hidden by screen emoji. Service so desultory that even 10.30 proved ambitious emoji.
WTF!
Used to was when anything these chaps did was a byword for quality. Expensive perhaps, but worth it. The Caprice, oh blissful memory. Somebody somewhere cared. Time was you sat in Zedel or The Wolsey for lunch and Chris Corbin would wander by, glad handing celebrity and mortal alike.
The man gave a damn. He was in two places at once.
Now he’s gone. And so has that Corbin ‘n King thing.

Ah well.
There’s other places to go.
